About the role

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is seeking a Director of Social and Human Development to lead and manage the Directorate. This role is based at the SADC Headquarters in Gaborone, Botswana.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Directorate.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of social and human development programs and policies.
  • Represent SADC in regional and international forums on social and human development issues.

Requirements:

  • Must be a national of Angola, Eswatini, or Seychelles.
  • Must be 52 years old or younger.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, development studies, or public health.
  • Extensive experience in social and human development, including policy development, program management, and advocacy.

Tenure of appointment

  • The term of appointment shall be for a fixed period of four (4) years, renewable once for another period of four (4) years.

Eligibility

  • Due to the SADC recruitment policy, nationals of Angola, Eswatini and Seychelles are eligible to apply for the Director Social and Human Development position because of the rules on representation at the management level and the availability of quota points.
