About the role
POSITION OVERVIEW
A leading limestone mining and lime processing company based in Lusaka, Zambia, is seeking to recruit a highly motivated, experienced, and results-oriented Mining Engineer to join its operations team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, design, and supervise limestone mining operations to ensure safe and efficient extraction.
- Develop short-term and long-term mine plans in line with production targets.
- Monitor mining activities and optimize productivity, equipment utilization, and operational costs.
- Ensure compliance with mining regulations, environmental standards, and company safety policies.
- Conduct geological and mining assessments to support reserve management and mine development.
- Prepare production reports, budgets, and operational forecasts.
- Coordinate drilling, blasting, excavation, and haulage activities.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure adherence to statutory requirements.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives within the mining operation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Registered with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) and the Engineering Registration Board (ERB).
- Minimum of 3 years' proven experience in limestone mining operations.
- Strong knowledge of open-pit mining methods, mine planning, and quarry management.
- Sound understanding of occupational health, safety, and environmental management systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
