About the role
Role Purpose
The Child Protection and Gender Technical Specialist will provide strategic direction, technical support and oversight to Save the Children Zambia’s child protection and gender equality programming portfolio. S/he will also contribute to country office strategy and business development, while ensuring programme quality and impact through application of evidence-based and innovative approaches; identifying new opportunities; and effectively leveraging resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and support to the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of child protection and gender equality programs.
- Develop and implement program strategies, frameworks, and tools to promote child protection and gender equality.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify key child protection and gender equality issues and trends.
- Provide technical assistance and training to staff and partners on child protection and gender equality issues.
- Advocate for child protection and gender equality at the national and local levels.
- Represent Save the Children Zambia in relevant forums and networks.
- Contribute to the development of proposals and reports.
- Collaborates in identifying research gaps and research opportunities as well as leading research and innovation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master's degree in social work, public health, gender studies, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience working on child protection and gender equality programs.
- Strong understanding of child protection and gender equality issues in Zambia.
- Experience in program design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Fluency in English and at least one Zambian language.
