The North Western Provincial Health Office, under the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) Project through a Cooperative Agreement (CoAg) with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the positions listed below, to be employed on a ten (10) month contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
SALARY:
A competitive package will be offered to successful candidates on a ten (10) month contract basis.
POSITION 7: PMTCT PROVIDER – MIDWIFE — 8 (EIGHT) POSITIONS
Job Title: PMTCT Provider – Midwife

Reports To: Facility In-Charge / Clinical Officer / Medical Officer
Number of Positions: 8 (Eight)
Job Purpose
To provide comprehensive Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) services to pregnant and breastfeeding women and their infants in order to eliminate new HIV infections in children and improve maternal health outcomes.
Job Responsibilities
- HIV Testing & Counselling: Provides HIV testing services and comprehensive pre/post-test counselling to pregnant women and their partners in order to identify HIV status and facilitate appropriate care linkages.
- Antiretroviral Therapy Management: Initiates, monitors, and manages antiretroviral therapy (ART) for HIV-positive pregnant and breastfeeding women in order to achieve viral suppression and prevent mother-to-child transmission.
- Infant HIV Prevention & Care: Provides HIV prophylaxis to HIV-exposed infants, conducts HIV testing at appropriate intervals, and manages care for HIV-exposed and infected children in order to prevent new infections and ensure optimal health outcomes.
- Maternal Health Integration: Integrates PMTCT services with antenatal care, delivery services, and postnatal care in order to provide comprehensive maternal and child health services.
- Data Management & Reporting: Maintains accurate patient records, collects program data, and submits timely reports in order to monitor program performance and ensure continuity of care.
- Health Education & Counselling: Provides health education on PMTCT, safe infant feeding practices, family planning, and adherence counselling in order to empower clients to make informed health decisions.
