THE OPPORTUNITY

The Board of Lusaka International Community School is seeking an experienced, inspirational and forward-thinking Head of School to provide strategic, educational and operational leadership for the school.

Reporting to the Board, the Head of School will work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team, staff, students, parents and the wider community to advance LICS’s mission of “Where Minds Flourish, Futures Take Root.”

The successful candidate will join LICS at an exciting point in its development. The school has a strong foundation, a committed community, and significant opportunities to build on recent growth and continue strengthening its educational, operational, and strategic direction.

A SCHOOL WITH MOMENTUM

LICS is a school with a strong history and a clear commitment to continued development. In recent years, the school has experienced significant growth and has made important investments in its educational, operational, and organisational foundations. This has included strengthening the systems and infrastructure that support teaching and learning, investing in the long-term sustainability of the campus, enhancing policies and practices relating to health, safety, child protection and safeguarding, and strengthening engagement across the school community.

The school has also continued to develop its approach to stakeholder engagement, creating greater opportunities for staff, students and parents to contribute to the ongoing development of the school. Having successfully navigated significant challenges following the COVID-19 pandemic, LICS has emerged with a stronger foundation and a clear focus on its future. The school is also continuing its journey of continuous improvement and international accreditation, having successfully completed its previous CIS re-accreditation process in 2020.

The next Head of School will join LICS at an important point in its development, with the opportunity to build on this strong foundation, work with a committed community, and help shape the next chapter of the school’s growth and development.

YOUR ROLE

The Head of School will provide leadership across the school’s educational, strategic, and operational priorities, including:

• Working with the Board to develop and implement the school’s strategic direction.
• Providing strong leadership for teaching, learning, and student achievement.
• Leading, supporting and developing the Senior Leadership Team and wider staff body.
• Promoting a strong culture of safeguarding, child protection, wellbeing and inclusion.
• Overseeing the effective management of the school’s financial, operational, and human resources.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant policies, regulations, and international school standards.
• Building positive and constructive relationships with staff, students, parents, the Board and the wider community.
• Representing LICS positively within the local and international education community.
• Leading the school’s continued development and accreditation journey.
