About The Youth Platform
The Youth Platform (TYP) is a regional youth-led network that amplifies young people’s voices, strengthens youth movements, and promotes meaningful youth participation in social, economic, and political development. Through advocacy, leadership development, community engagement, and youth empowerment, TYP works to ensure that adolescents and young people are seen, heard, protected, and included in decision-making spaces.
Opportunity Summary
The Youth Platform is looking for a creative, proactive, and passionate Communications Volunteer to support the organization’s visibility, storytelling, digital engagement, and advocacy work.
The Communications Volunteer will support TYP in documenting impact, creating content, managing digital platforms, and strengthening communication around programs, campaigns, and events.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop content for TYP’s social media platforms, website, newsletters, and campaigns.
- Draft captions, stories, articles, press notes, event highlights, and other communication materials.
- Support photography, videography, interviews, and documentation during programs and events.
- Assist in designing simple graphics, posters, flyers, and digital advocacy materials.
- Help manage and update TYP’s media library, including photos, videos, publications, and event records.
- Support the development of human-interest stories, success stories, testimonials, and program updates.
- Track social media engagement and support basic reporting on digital performance.
- Assist with media engagement, visibility activities, and communications support for key events and campaigns.
Ideal Candidate
- Has strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Is creative and confident using social media platforms.
- Has basic design skills using tools such as Canva, Adobe tools, or similar platforms.
- Has an interest in youth development, advocacy, governance, health, gender, or community work.
- Can take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
- Is organized, reliable, and willing to learn.
- Has basic photography, videography, or video editing skills, which would be an added advantage.
- Understands how to communicate with young people and diverse audiences.
