About the role

Job Summary

The Civil Works Supervisor will be responsible for supervising and coordinating all civil construction activities at the Kawambwa Sugar Limited project site, including farm infrastructure, factory foundations, buildings, roads, drainage systems, and associated structures.
The role ensures that all civil works are executed as per drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project timelines, while maintaining strict safety and cost control measures.

Key Responsibilities

Site Supervision & Execution

  • Supervise day-to-day civil construction activities at site (earthworks, concrete works, structures, roads, drainage, foundations, etc.)
  • Ensure works are executed as per approved drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure adherence to project timelines
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and site labour teams

Quality Control

  • Ensure all civil works meet required quality standards and engineering specifications
  • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks on materials and workmanship
  • Verify measurements and maintain proper records of work completed
  • Address and rectify any quality deviations or non-conformances

Project Coordination

  • Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and other project teams for integrated project execution
  • Assist in planning and scheduling of civil works activities
  • Ensure availability of materials and resources at site in coordination with procurement and stores
  • Support site engineers and project managers in execution planning

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to site safety protocols and statutory regulations
  • Promote a safe working environment and enforce use of PPE
  • Report and mitigate any unsafe conditions or practices
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain daily site reports, progress updates, and work logs
  • Track work progress against project schedule
  • Assist in preparation of measurement sheets, billing verification, and contractor invoices
  • Maintain records of materials, labour, and site activities

Cost & Resource Management

  • Monitor material usage and minimize wastage
  • Assist in tracking project costs and highlighting variances
  • Ensure efficient utilization of manpower, equipment, and resources

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory)

Experience

  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in civil construction
  • Experience in industrial projects, infrastructure, or agro-based projects preferred
  • Exposure to large-scale project execution (factory, farm development, roads, etc.) will be an advantage

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of civil construction methods and materials
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and BOQs
  • Familiarity with project planning and execution processes
  • Basic knowledge of quantity surveying and billing verification
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel and reporting tools

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience working on factory construction / industrial projects / large farms

  • Efficient utilization of materials and cost control

Working Conditions

  • Based primarily at Kawambwa project/farm site
  • Requires extensive onsite supervision and coordination
  • Accommodation and site facilities provided (as per company policy)
