About the role
Mooto Holdings Ltd, with support from Unearthodox, a Swiss non-profit organisation focused on supporting vulnerable communities, is inviting applications from young people living with disabilities to participate in a 12-month Software Development Traineeship Programme.
About the Programme
The programme is designed to equip young people living with disabilities with practical digital skills that can enable them to work remotely, earn an income, and contribute meaningfully to society.
Many young people living with disabilities have the capacity, talent, and commitment to perform effectively in different professional roles. However, they often face discrimination and barriers to employment because some companies believe that employing a person with a disability requires major adjustments in the workplace. With the growth of technology and remote work, young people living with disabilities now have greater opportunities to build careers in areas such as software development, web development, graphic design, and other digital services.
Through this traineeship, Mooto Holdings Ltd will provide practical training while also engaging local and international companies to consider hiring trained participants as full-time, part-time, freelance, or remote workers.
Training Areas
Selected participants will receive training in areas such as:
* Software development
* Web development
* Graphic design
* Digital skills for remote work
* Professional communication
* Online work readiness
* Portfolio development
* Employability and workplace preparation
The goal of the programme is to build participants’ technical capacity while connecting them to real work opportunities.
Programme Structure
The traineeship will run for 12 months, starting in August 2026.
During the programme, selected participants will be accommodated at Mooto College and will attend training and practical work sessions from the Mooto College co-working space.
Participants will receive structured training, mentorship, practical assignments, and support to prepare them for remote work opportunities with companies in Zambia and abroad.
Programme Cost
The training participation fee is fully sponsored.
However, selected participants must be able to meet the cost of accommodation and meals during the programme.
Accommodation and food cost: K2,000 per month
This amount will cover accommodation and meals while the participant is enrolled in the traineeship programme at Mooto College.
What Participants Will Gain
Successful applicants will benefit from:
* Practical training in digital and technology-related skills
* Access to a co-working and learning environment
* Mentorship and professional guidance
* Support in developing a digital work portfolio
* Exposure to local and international remote work opportunities
* Career preparation for full-time, part-time, freelance, or contract-based work
* Support in connecting with companies that are open to hiring remote digital workers
Important Note
This traineeship is designed to prepare participants for employment and remote work opportunities. Mooto Holdings Ltd will actively engage companies locally and internationally to connect participants to possible job opportunities. However, employment after the programme will depend on the participant’s performance, commitment, skill level, and available opportunities.
