About the role

Job Purpose

The Raise Bore Supervisor is responsible for supervising all raise boring operations to ensure work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company procedures, mine standards, and production targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Operations Manager on safety, production, equipment performance, and operational challenges.
  • Supervise raise bore crews and coordinate daily operational activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all mine safety regulations, company procedures, and statutory requirements.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, workplace inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Monitors raise boring operations to ensure production and quality targets are achieved.
  • Ensure raise bore equipment, reamers, drill strings, and associated machinery are properly inspected and maintained.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
  • Liaise with mine management and other departments to ensure smooth execution of work.
  • Train, mentor, and monitor crew performance.
  • Investigate incidents, unsafe acts, and operational delays, and implement corrective actions.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

  • Diploma in Mining Engineering or a related mining discipline.
  • Valid Blasting Licence.
  • Valid Silicosis Medical Certificate.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Raise Bore Operations, with supervisory experience being an added advantage.
  • Must be a registered member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Good knowledge of underground mining safety standards and raise boring practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in report writing, planning, and record keeping.
