Job purpose

To be based at the BIA Headoffice in Kitwe.

Job purpose

To coordinate, supervise, and monitor the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of BIA established buildings, equipment, utilities, and surroundings to ensure that facilities remain safe, operational, and compliant with relevant regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance of buildings and infrastructure.
  • Assist in planning and implementing rehabilitation, renovation, and construction projects.
  • Conduct routine inspections of offices and other established facilities.
  • Identify maintenance requirements and prepare work schedules.
  • Ensure timely repair of building defects, including roofing, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and masonry works.
  • Supervise effectively the cleaning of building and surroundings to promote a conducive working environment.
  • Supervise artisans, technicians, contractors, and maintenance staff.
  • Verify quality and completion of maintenance works and certify completed works and recommend payments where applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with technical specifications and safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend corrective measures.
  • Monitor environmental management practices within institutional premises.

Desired Knowledge

  • Knowledge of building maintenance practices.
  • Understanding of construction and engineering principles.
  • Project management skills.
  • Budgeting and procurement knowledge.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office and maintenance management systems).
  • Knowledge of the Zambian public service regulations and procurement procedures.

Who are we looking for?

  • Grade 12 School Certificate or its equivalent with five (5) O levels
  • Diploma Civil Works or in a relevant field
  • Two (2) years work experience
  • Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) Membership
