About the role

Job Purpose

The Finance Manager will be responsible for the full financial management function to ensure accurate and timeous reporting of the financial performance of the Department and the proper application of all financial processes and systems in support of Company business objectives. Ensure all requested records are in line with Company policy and relevant accounting standards and legislation. Prepare all supporting information for the annual audit and liaise with the Board’s Audit Committee and the external auditors as necessary.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure audit pack is prepared in accordance with auditing firms’ requirements.
  • Resolve audit queries.
  • Financial Management Accounts for the group are prepared on a monthly basis.
  • Additional support documentation is included when requested.
  • Ensure appropriate facilities are in place to meet the Company’s requirements.
  • Ensure that only valid authorised transactions are processed.
  • Daily cashflow analysis prepared for MD review.
  • Weekly (or as requested by management) cashflow forecast presented to reflect monthly requirements and outstanding inter-group transactions / payments so that appropriate action can be taken.
  • Cashflow projections to manage operations effectively.
  • Ensure that annual budgets are compiled and approved by management prior to commencement of new financial year.
  • Ensure the financial team are working as an effective team.
  • To prioritise tasks and assign responsibility to staff.
  • Ensure deadlines are met and accounting records are accurate and up to date.
  • Monitor and assess the performance of staff.
  • Take appropriate disciplinary action in line with company policy and procedures when required.
  • Deadlines to be met in respect of accounting diary.
  • Review of recovery expenses are done by financial accountant on daily basis.
  • Review of financial accountants’ requirement to compile balance sheet recons on a monthly basis.
  • Provide a lead role in giving advice and provide a professional culture geared to seeking optimal solutions.
  • Strive to differentiate between the implementation of the tried and trusted and the identification of innovative value add solutions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Accounting, Finance or Economics.
  • Full CA Zambia, ACCA or CIMA
  • Must have at least a minimum of 5 years’ working experience in busy accounting and finance roles.
  • Must have experience in microfinance/banking/insurance/audit sector.
  • Hands-on experience in banking systems will be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrate teamwork with workmates at all levels.
  • Open to impactful change and a creative thinker.
  • Experience with different accounting software.
  • Must be a member of ZICA
