About the role
Role Overview:
The Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) & Fleet Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with safety, health, environmental, and transport regulations while maintaining the safe, efficient, and cost‑effective operation of the company fleet. The role supports improved performance and productivity across all Alliance One Tobacco locations through the promotion of safe work practices and the provision of SHE and quality management training to management and employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) policies in line with legal and company requirements.
- Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations.
- Coordinate SHE training, inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness programmes for employees and contractors.
- Maintain SHE records, incident logs, compliance documentation, and statutory registers.
- Promote a strong safety culture across all company locations.
- Manage and oversee the company vehicle fleet, ensuring roadworthiness and regulatory compliance.
- Plan and monitor motorbikes and vehicle maintenance schedules, fuel usage, fleet costs, and utilization.
- Ensure all motorbikes and vehicles have valid licenses, insurance, certificates of fitness, and tracking systems.
- Investigate motorbikes and vehicle accidents, coordinate repairs, and maintain accurate fleet records.
- Prepare and submit SHE and fleet performance reports and support audits and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety rules, and regulatory guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
- Full Grade 12 Certificate with credits in English and Mathematics.
- Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Public Health, Environmental Management, Logistics, Transport Management, or related field.
- Valid membership with the Zambia Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (ZIOSH) and/or CILT, with a practicing license (essential).
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a SHE and/or Fleet Management role, preferably within logistics, manufacturing, agricultural, or trading environments.
