About the role

SHEP Consultants Limited is seeking a dynamic and commercially driven Area Manager on behalf of one of our clients in the integrated agribusiness sector. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the successful candidate will oversee the Bulk Edible Oils Business, driving sales growth, operational efficiency, market expansion, inventory and logistics management, customer satisfaction, and business performance across multiple outlets. The role will also be responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and regulatory compliance of bulk edible oil products throughout the supply chain while identifying opportunities to strengthen the company's market position.

Location: Lusaka (Headquarters)

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sales and operational strategies to achieve business growth, market expansion, and revenue targets.
  • Drive the sale of bulk edible oils across designated locations to achieve organizational sales objectives and profitability targets.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, customer segments, and distribution channels for bulk edible oil products.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, customer preferences, and pricing dynamics to inform business decisions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers, distributors, wholesalers, and institutional buyers.
  • Manage day-to-day operations across designated outlets and distribution points to ensure efficiency, compliance, and service excellence.
  • Ensure adequate stock availability and timely replenishment to meet customer demand.
  • Coordinate logistics, transportation, dispatches, and deliveries.
  • Conduct regular stock monitoring, reconciliations, stock counts, and inventory reporting.
  • Ensure uninterrupted supply of bulk edible oils through effective supplier coordination.
  • Ensure all bulk edible oil products meet company quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor the quality of incoming, stored, and distributed edible oils.
  • Conduct routine inspections of storage tanks, dispensing systems, and handling processes.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety, hygiene, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Coordinate product sampling, testing, and quality verification processes.
  • Investigate quality-related complaints and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain quality inspection and traceability records.
  • Supervise, coach, mentor, and motivate outlet staff.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure compliance with operational procedures, statutory requirements, and safety standards.
  • Monitor operational risks and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Prepare accurate daily, weekly, and monthly operational and performance reports.

What We Are Looking For

Qualifications

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related Business Discipline from a reputable institution.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence.
  • Membership with a relevant professional body.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in a similar management role.
  • Proven experience in sales management, operations management, inventory management, and business development.
  • Experience managing multiple operational locations will be an added advantage.
