About the role
The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is seeking a Senior Programme Officer for Food Security & Agriculture to contribute to the development and implementation of regional programs. This role is based at the SADC Headquarters in Gaborone, Botswana.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of food security and agriculture programs.
- Provide technical support to Member States in the areas of food security and agriculture.
- Conduct research and analysis on food security and agriculture issues.
Requirements:
- Must be a national of an eligible Member State (Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe).
- Must be 52 years old or younger.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in agriculture, economics, or a related field.
- Experience in food security and agriculture program management.
Tenure of appointment
- Appointments for positions will be on a fixed-term contract for four (4) years, renewable twice for an equal period, subject to satisfactory completion of 6 months’ probation; satisfactory performance, retirement age limit of 60 years; and the continued need for the position.
Eligibility
- The positions are open to qualified applicants who are from the following eligible Member States (Positions 2-3): Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Are 52 years old or younger. This requirement is based on the Organisation’s need to recruit staff who can serve for a reasonable period of time before reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60 years.

- certified copies of your degree(s), Diploma(s) and Certificate(s); and
